Starting university is often a mix of excitement, adjustment, and new responsibilities. As the first semester comes to an end, several 100-level students at Fountain University shared their experiences, challenges, and memorable moments from their first few months on campus.
How has your experience been as a new student?
“My experience has been cool. The environment is conducive, and I’m glad to have met some wonderful people.”

“Honestly, it’s been amazing. I’ve been adjusting well to the new environment, and my lecturers have been very supportive. I feel like I’m learning a lot and making new connections.”

“Being a 100-level student at Fountain University has been a new experience for me. Sometimes it’s hard, sometimes it’s easy, but overall it has been very good. Alhamdulillah.”

“It has been quite a stressful transition. The most significant challenge has been the inconsistency of basic utilities. We often struggle with water scarcity, and electricity becomes difficult whenever the school generator has technical issues. Managing academic demands alongside these daily challenges has made the freshman experience tougher than expected.”

What do you like most about Fountain University so far?
“What I like most about Fountain University is the peaceful learning environment and the discipline the school promotes. The atmosphere encourages students to focus on their studies and develop good character. I also appreciate the supportive lecturers and the opportunities to grow academically and morally.”

What was the most challenging part of your first semester?
“The most challenging part was the registration process.”

Was there any course you found particularly challenging?
“Omo! Yes o. Statistics and Chemistry really challenged me.”

“Chemistry (CHM 101 and CHM 107) has been the most demanding for me. The subject itself is manageable, but the way it is structured and delivered makes the workload feel overwhelming.”

“One course I have found quite challenging is Chemistry. The concepts can be demanding, but I am doing my best to keep up by studying consistently. I believe with time and effort it will become easier.”

Which course was the most interesting to you?
“BIO 101 and BIO 107 were the most interesting courses for me this semester because they helped me understand the basic concepts of biology and human body processes.”

Is there anything you hope to do differently next semester?
“I hope to do better in my exams than I did in the first semester, in sha Allah.”

Was there anything you found particularly interesting this semester?
“Yes, the Usrah lectures, Walimatul Qur’an, Freshers’ Night, and similar events were super fun.”

How easy or difficult was it to make friends?
“It was very easy to make friends at the university. Other students have been friendly and helpful to me academically, spiritually, and psychologically.”

Although the first semester came with challenges such as registration hurdles, demanding courses, and issues with water and electricity, many students described the experience as rewarding. Their reflections show that while the transition to university life can be demanding, patience, discipline, and support from peers and lecturers help many students adapt and make the most of campus life.
