The Students’ Central Executive Council (SCEC) of Fountain University is thrilled to announce the successful conclusion of its Maiden Writing Contest themed “Degrees without Destiny: An Assessment of the Nigerian Graduate’s Dilemma.”
The contest, which opened to undergraduates and freshly graduated students across tertiary institutions in Southwest Nigeria, officially closed on Friday, September 19th, 2025. At the close of submissions, the SCEC recorded an impressive 79 entries from 14 different universities across the region, a remarkable show of creativity, insight, and engagement from young minds eager to contribute to national conversations on education and employability.
This milestone marks a strong beginning for the SCEC’s literary and intellectual development
initiative, reflecting the council’s commitment to promoting critical thinking, research, and expressive writing among students.
Evaluation of submissions is currently underway, and winners will be announced soon. Prizes. of ₦70,000, ₦40,000, and ₦20,000 await the top three participants. Additionally, the winners will feature in the forthcoming SCECs’ Magazine and will also get the chance to speak to their essays at the FUSA Leadership summit coming up next year
The SCEC extends appreciation to all participants and partner institutions for their enthusiasm and support. This contest has set the tone for greater student-led intellectual engagement at Fountain University and beyond.
